James Kerrigan

James was enrolled at the Vet Haven North Transitional Housing for one year before finding Permanent Housing at Soldier On’s Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in Tinton Falls, NJ. During his time at Gordon H. Mansfield he has participated in the bi-weekly Hope Sheds Light Recovery Program to share his positive attitude with other veterans, reminding them that anything is possible. His words of affirmation toward others have been inspiring since many of his fellow veterans at the building are also looking to follow in his footsteps in owning their own home.

When asked how his life improved since working with Soldier On, James said, “I came from having nothing to having everything.” He says he’s forever grateful to Soldier On for providing him with a place to reset his life and to fulfill his dream of being a homeowner.

Soldier On Case Manager Tracey Visalli asked James if he had any special goals that he would like to accomplish in the future: “I’m 70 years old and I wouid like to live another 70!” he replied. If you know James, this statement is not far-fetched. He would like to continue to spread his joy and appreciation to the masses for as long as he can. He will continue to visit the many friends that he has made at GHM, since he will not be far away. James will be missed, but we are so happy for his success.
