MEET THE NEW HOMEOWNER:

Matthew Cobado

SUCCESS STORY

Meet: MATTHEW COBADO

A U.S. Army veteran, Matthew worked with Soldier On case manager, Josh Ziccarelli to improve his financial and housing stability.

What was your situation when you reached out to Soldier On?

I reached out to Soldier On which was recommended to me by another Veteran service that was unable to assist me. At that time, I only had a partial disability claim, and did not have any other income coming in. I found myself struggling daily, weekly, monthly. I was behind on rent and couldn't buy enough food for myself. It felt like the walls were closing in on me.

How has your life improved since working with Soldier On?

Soldier On helped me obtain my full disability allowing me some financial comfort. I worked with their MMI team to ensure that I was being smart with my money. I feel that both programs have provided me a life that I can begin feeling successful in. I currently have an apartment that I can afford. I have been able to put mone into a savings account which is for a home. I have been approved through my VA home loan for an amount I didn't know I would have received if I didn't work with Soldier On and the MMI team.

What long-term future goals would you like to accomplish?

My future ambition at this point is to find a home. I would like some land so I can be self-sufficient. I want to build my own gardens, have some livestock and just be happy!
