MEET THE NEW HOMEOWNER:

Joe Wroblewski

SUCCESS STORY

Meet: JOE WROBLEWSKI

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Joe is working with Soldier On to achieve homeownership.

How has Soldier On helped you?

I was experiencing homelessness, living on and off the streets in New York City and New Jersey for the last 20 years. In 2021, sleeping on a curb outside a church in Jersey City, I was found ill and admitted to a hospital, diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, having absolutely nothing. During my stay I was introduced to Soldier On and Case Manager Traci Herman, and within a year my life completely changed! Traci helped me re-establish my life by providing HOPE!

The biggest lesson learned for me was that sometimes you have to realize you can't do it on your own. Solder On assisted me in receiving my VA medical care and disability, and explained to me that I had opportunities to find stable housing just by working on my debt and budget. Solder On's Free Financial Counseling Services conducted by MMI Mark McBride helped me increase my credit score by over 100 points within a few months, and that was instrumental to the condo I live in today.

What future goals would you like to accomplish?

I want to share my story with other veterans to show them there is always HOPE and trust in organizations like Soldier On to help you succeed. Today I volunteer at the local American Legion to give back to those who served and are struggling on the streets. also plan to become a homeowner this year, as was just pre-approved or a $300,000 VA home loan!
